Joel performs with Denny Laine and the Granati Bros at Lincoln Park Performing Arts School in front of a sold out auditorium. Joel gives solo performances on Yesterday, Across the Universe, Eleanor Rigby, and plays a short set with Boulevard of the Allies to start the show. He also stands beside Denny Laine at center stage to sing harmonies on his hits, including Mull of Kintyre, Band on the Run and Live and Let Die. It was electrifying.

22 June 2007

Joel prepares to leave the cultural city of San Francisco. Deep inside the travel straps

and sleeping bag lies his guitar. He really did shlep this thing across America. But it made it back

in one piece, so he must have known what he was doing. And a flight case would have been 5

times as heavy...And far less colourful.

21 June 2007

Blondies, Haight and Hayes, San francisco. My last gig on tour before returning to Beaver PA.

A coffee shop, a bunch of old hippies wearing bum bags, beads and hemp clothing. There wasn't

even a  pa system. Poetry, an amazing blues harp player, story tellers. I jammed with an old blues

playing guy who lived in San Fran around the same time my mum lived there as a wild child hippy

with a flower drawn on her cheek. He didn't know her. We rode the bus back to market together.

He toked his pipe on the journey. Naturally i declined.

18 JUNE 2007

San Francisco. Drugs, music, strip clubs and clam chowder. Bewildered, disorientated and

exhausted, Joel  plays the bars of San Francisco, lost and alone. Thrilling. this time at a bar

called Retox. A nice bar, but don't walk the streets after 2am around here. The crackheads

are out, and they have guns! A bad combination.  But Joel felt safe as he had befriended Eugene,

a 31 year old half Irish half Cleveland street hustler. He was also a musician. Think Jon Lennon

meets an enraged pitbull. He knew every stripper in town by there first name. In San

Francisco you can have a buffet lunch while you get a lap dance.

13 june 2007

Joel opens again for  'Stewart Mann and The Statesboro Review' , this time at The  6th street's

Chuggin Monkey. His set included a version of Free's 'Hunter', for which Scott from the band     jammed with Joel. Joel also performed backing vocals for the band on Sweet Home Alabama and various CCR oldies. The guys were a real good laugh and excellent musicians.

"In Birmingham they love the Gov'nor...."

13 june 2007

Joel walks onto an outdoor stage where 'The Doogs' are mid set. He jams with them on a djembe.

Only in Austin can you walk onto a stage while a band are playing and start jamming without so

much as an introduction. They jammed together for around an hour. It was great.

12 june 2007

Joel opens for 'Stewart Mann and The Statesboro Revue', a local band from Austin. The gig was at

The Blind Pig on 6th Street, the coolest rooftop venue in town. 6th street was awesome live

music, beautiful women, cheap booze 7 days a week 'til 2am. An amazing place. Adam had left for

Boston, but Joel had hooked up with the right people and made some great friends. The Lone Star

beer flowed like water that night, and an after party with the band continued through

the early hours.

9 June 2007

Austin, Texas had opened its arms wide open to these British musicians. This was Gino's, an

Italian dive with an awful house band. They played for around 20 minutes. Joel and Adam played

for an hour.

4 June 2007

Having Met an enthusiastic musician called Mike at the Tailgate, he had arranged a saturday

night  showcase for Joel And Adam at The Corkscrew, a swanky wine bar in the Heights of

Houston. The crowd went crazy for the duo, and they played arguably their best set of the tour.

There was something in the air that night. The bar owner said it was the biggest crowd

response any artists had received in his venue, it was a packed house. They were invited back,

but the next day the pair left for Austin.

1 JUNE 2007

Houston Texas, Christian's Tailgate. The rain poured down as Joel and Adam pulled up to a

small corrogated iron building just off the freeway. Inside were tvs showing various basketball

and baseball games, and the locals drank pitchers of Miller Lite. The mensroom door was a thin

piece of white laminate barely attached by two small hinges with 'men' drawn on in marker

pen. Joel re-introduced the duo to the crowd 83 times during the set. Adam grimaced.

29 May 2007

Nashville, Tennesse. Joel and Adam arrive early to play an open mic at 'The Hall of Fame

Nashville'. They are overheard warming up by the host, and are asked if they would be the

featured act and play an hour set. They give a killer performance and sell a load of cds. At the

start of the the gig, Joel announces to the audience " Hi everyone, we're from London." An

audience member with a strong southern accent hollers " London, Kentucky??" We made great

friend's with Aaron from Vancouver, of the band 'The Broken Condom Babies'. He high-fived alot.
