Congratulations on acheiving a 9-5 record in your first official year of Varsity play!

NoTournament (07:33 5/01/06)

It looks like the Cougars will not be eligible for the tournament. Here is the email from Coach Jess:

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I wanted to give an up date about the tournament.  Unfortunately we are out of the tournament but not because we don't deserve it!  We did not have the 12 game limit that was unknown to many teams.  East Chapel Hill didn't make it in eithor.  I am so sorry for this missed opportunity.  The girls had a great shot at going far.  I really don't know what else to say but we had a great season and I am so proud of our team!  We will still meet for practice tomorrow to discuss what happened.  We can start planning our end of the year banquet as well.

Coach Jess

 Playoff information

The seed positions will be determined this weekend. The girls will be told on Monday (5/1), whether or not they have been seeded for the playoff tournament and who they will be playing.

  • Playoffs start next week (week of May 1st).
  • Round 1 Completed by May 6th. At higher Seed school.
  • Round 2 Completed by May 13th. At higher Seed school.
  • Rounds 1 & 2 games may be scheduled earlier in the week if both teams agree and game officials are available.)
  • Final Four May 20th (At Davidson College)
  • Final Tourney Seeding will take place April 30th.
  • The top 2 teams in each conference automatically make playoffs(4 conferences x top 2 teams = 8 teams) plus 8 wildcards are chosen.
  • Gory details! See page 29 of the By Laws.

Playoff pairings:

What team plays what other team is determined by your seed position. A very low seed position means you end up playing one of the top teams. For example, seed position 16 (lowest ranked team in tournament), ends up playing the seed position 1 (highest ranked team in the tournament).

Round 1 pairings (number represents seed position):

16 @ 1
15 @ 2
14 @ 3
13 @ 4
12 @ 5
11 @ 6
10 @ 7
9 @ 8
