Statement as of 3:19 PM CDT on October 11, 2009
... Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10 am CDT Monday...
The National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing drizzle and light snow... which is in effect until 10 am CDT Monday.
Yet another storm system will bring wintry weather to the region this evening into Monday morning. Unseasonably cold air remains in place at the surface and warmer air will begin to move in aloft.
This will set the stage for a freezing drizzle event that will result in a light icing on exposed surfaces by this evening into the overnight hours. There could also be a few periods of light snow... but little to no snowfall accumulation is expected. The primary threat with this system will be the icy conditions resulting from the freezing drizzle.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
