Josh Jones's Mathematics Tutoring and Educational Consulting Service

Hello!  With my tutoring service you can have all the attention and energy that goes into planning a class for 20 people devoted exclusively to you! You will literally have the experience of having a classroom of one (minus the stress of grades): I keep records of the content of our meetings and  progress, noting what you found difficult to understand (concepts, topics, page and problem #'s), and I can give you the personal attention that is so hard to come by elsewhere.  Last year I taught high school mathematics full time.  More on that in the "Why Choose Me?" section.  I have decided to tutor so that I have more free time as I prepare for graduate school.

I have a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, and I'm available on short notice.  Just text, call or email and I'll get back with you pronto.  I am a graduate of and still reside at the University of Chicago (Mathematics BA, 2007), in Hyde Park.  I serve all of Chicago, though most of my clients prefer to come to me.

<---In the side bar you will find links to the rest of the pages on this site.  You can find information such as my contact info, pricing, references, and my previous students and their schools.  Who knows--You might know someone I've tutored!

It's a good idea to copy and paste the site url

into an email you send yourself.  If you found my website through a google, facebook, or yahoo ad, it may be difficult to locate again.  My email is jjonesmath@gmail.com.

If you're curious about my service, but not sure if it's right for you, email a brief math question (explainable in a paragraph or so) so you can get an idea of how I explain problem solving techniques, difficult concepts, and the like.  Still not sure?  Ask about a reduced rate for the first meeting.  If I'm willing to tutor you, it's because I'm confident you will be satisfied.

When we begin meeting regularly, it's best if you let me know the questions you have a few days in advance of our meeting so that I have time to prepare an explanation. For subjects below calculus, this generally isn't an issue. I will also give brief counseling (know that I am not a registered counselor) to high school students regarding college admissions etc.

I've included pictures in the "About Me" section.
