I have begun hiring other tutors to cover every academic subject (and even nonacademics!). Below is a list of the subjects that I personally teach. If you seek assistance with something not on this list, please let me know and I will connect you with someone who can help. Tutoring Last year I taught all upper level mathematics courses at a private high school in Chicago. I designed the curricula for all but the Geometry course (Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and AP Calculus (approved by the College Board), all honors courses, with diagnostic tests available). I'm available to tutor those courses as well as: Multivariable/Vector Calculus Business Calculus Basic Real Analysis/Topology Linear Algebra Logic, Set Theory, and basic proof-based math (which pretty much everything past calculus is) Discrete Mathematics Elementary Game Theory (Theoretical and Economically oriented) Probability Theory and Statistics Standardized Test Preps (AP, SAT, ACT, GED, GMAT/GRE quantitative, etc.) and test taking strategies Graphing Calculator Help AP Physics/College 1st year physics Any high school or introductory science course If we meet in the library, we generally have a private room and use a dry-erase or chalkboard if available. If not available, I may have my portable dry-erase board. In general, I can not meet persons under 17 years of age at the library in the absence of a legal guardian without discussing it first. Independent Study For topics not on the list above, email me and ask. I can research topics that I am not already familiar with but can quickly learn given my prior exposure to math, or that I am somewhat familiar with given my prior exposure to math, but that would require some work. Note that if your topic is not on the list, that does not mean I would have to do paid preliminary research. A few examples of such projects include an independent study on general relativity and work on financial mathematics for a masters program. In both cases, I learned the material ahead of my students and subsequently taught them. These were both lasting projects. A masters student from Chicago State University asked me about Computational Algebraic Geometry. I hadn't seen that stuff (though I had had a little algebra and graph theory). I could do 3/4 of his homework within an hour and a half. The last problem I would have had to have been there for the lecture to have gotten. I literally looked at the student's notes, which he told me he didn't fully understand, and I pieced together what was going on from that and the book. Math Solving With this service I can fill out study guides or solve any other math problems you have. Contact me with details. Available short notice by text once we have scheduled a time. Homework Help and Exam Preparation Most of the time it's best to learn by doing all homework completely on your own. Other times that is impossible or impractical, or it's actually better to learn from someone else who has an experienced perspective and can provide a context for the material that you can't necessarily get on your own. This is especially true for a busy, working professional taking classes with a full time job. In these times, I can help. I can save you time and help you reach a deeper understanding of the material. Email/Phone Help Once we begin meeting regularly, I will be available for email and phone help (at my discretion, generally after 3 meetings) at no extra cost. |
