Research interests

• Limnology and microbial ecology of reservoirs and lakes (especially acidified mountain lakes of Bohemian Forest).

• Primary production: ¹⁴C-bicarbonate incorporation, size-fractionation, extracellular production of organic carbon by phytoplankton.

• Bacterial production and activity: radiolabelled substrate incorporation (thymidine, leucine)

• Phosphorus cycling: radiolabelled orthophophate uptake and turnover, P-limitation assessment.

• Extracellular enzymes: (especially phosphatases) activity, localization and quantification at single-cell level using ELF97.

• Image analysis: applications in limnology - cell sizing, quantification of filamentous microorganisms, fluorescence quantification, at single-cell level.

• Analysis of time series
