CME on colorectal cancer was organized on 13th September by Regional Cancer Centre JIPMER. Colorectal cancer is ranked 9th among all the cancers in India and the incidence of this cancer is 5 per 100000 population. About 3% of the cancer patients treated in JIPMER have colorectal cancer. Surgery remains the primary treatment, while chemotherapy and radiotherapy are recommended depending upon the extent of the tumor. Though colorectal cancers are more common in the western world, they are becoming increasingly more frequent in our country.
During the CME, Faculty members from Pathology, Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Radiation oncology and Medical Oncology participated and delivered lectures about the emerging methods in diagnosis and management of colorectal cancer |
