AKA: Shopping list....
You will need:
- An SD memory card.
- Get the largest you can afford but remember that the MRS-8 does not support 2gig or higher. Some users have found that some SD cards do not work at all. Zoom have a list of confirmed working cards here.
- Headphones.
- The unit has no built in speakers and Headphones are essential when recording to prevent feedback
- Get a pair of good quality enclosed headphones if possible.
- A cable. Unless you want to just use the inbuilt mic, you will need to connect your instrument with either:
- a 1/4" TS Connector (A standard Guitar cable)
- a 1/4" TRS Connector (The Balanced version of the guitar cable)
- an XLR (Commonly used for microphones)
- Remember, cheap cables are false economy! A good quality cable (neutrik's connectors and van damme cable is a great combo) will last a lifetime and be reliable.
- A good quality flip over note pad and pen
- You can, of course, use any old scrap of paper if you want but taking notes will become very important later on
- Batteries
- If you want to record on the go then get yourself a big pack of quality 'AA' batteries
If you want to transfer Your songs to PC you will also need:
- An SD card reader
- A copy of the File Manager software available for free here
