Dichromatic Arguments for and Against Torturing Al Qaeda Members for Information Against Terrorism By Jill Starr

United States :

Arguments for and against water-boarding and torturing Al Qaeda agents in order to extract important information from them employing, ‘enhanced interrogation techniques,’ are dichromatic.

They must be examined only in only two ways: 1) Moral arguments, and, 2) political arguments; I am a neutral analyst.

Arguments for and against enhanced interrogation techniques moreover, must not be viewed through either a democratic or other republican framework.  They must be analyzed solely in terms falling within a particular the theoretical framework of whether torturing Al Qaeda agents to obtain valuable information for protecting our country and its future posterity, is worth it.

Those advocating political arguments for torturing Al Qaeda agents of terrorism will argue torturing one person will protect the many innocent United States citizens. Although illegal in discussing it regarding customarily recognized national and/or international legal perimeters, doing so can prevent another 9/11 from occurring.

Those against enhanced interrogation techniques or ‘torture’ for information will say the United States must obey the same human rights instruments they themselves are party Treaty to.  I have been one of the persons clearly stating this in many of my political papers.

However, in the case of terrorism and in light of 9/11, it is clear that Al Qaeda and its leaders clearly refuse to play by the aforementioned international legal rules, so should America?

It is an individual choice and it is up to each one of us to decide within the aforementioned perimeters. Notwithstanding, our elected politicians should be honest with us, their constituents, when asked whether our country employs torture to information techniques. Nancy Pelosi clearly lied to CNN, the American public and also her own Senatorial colleagues several years ago whether denied being privy to private intelligence information she knew the United States was using these techniques.

Nancy Pelosi, obviously knew the American military had the green light to employ ‘enhanced interrogation techniques.” How do I know? Because my son told me he was learning ‘water boarding’ and other enhanced torture techniques in the United States Army, at that time. At very least, we should expect honesty from the Majority House Speaker! What shall be done about this anything now?
