Brief CV:

Dr. Jignesh G. Bhatt received his Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Gujarat University, Gujarat, India, and his Master of Technology Degree in Electrical Engineering (Specialization: Measurement and Instrumentation) from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), Uttarakhand, India. The titles of his UG and PG theses were “Study of Different Distributed Control Systems and Their Comparison” and “Wireless Sensor Networks for Process Industry” respectively. He completed his Ph.D. from Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, and the title of his thesis was "Reliability Enhancement of Smart Grid Communication Technologies Using Instrumentation Telemetry Concepts" under the guidance of Dr. V.S.K.V. Harish and Dr. Omkar K. Jani.

He served as Assistant Manager (Instrumentation), Atul Limited, Atul, India, and as Senior Engineer (Projects), DIECIL, Ahmedabad, from 1997 to 1999. During this tenure, his main functional areas included Automation, Projects, ISO 9000, and Y2K compliance for process automation systems, as well as design, installation-commissioning, and troubleshooting for the automation of water treatment plants. For the last 23.5 years and more, Prof. Bhatt has been with the Faculty of Technology, Dharmsinh Desai University, Nadiad, India, where he holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering.

Prof. Bhatt has published several research papers in International Conferences/Journals and delivered Invited Expert Lectures at prestigious technical International Conferences /Symposia.  Prof. Bhatt is currently serving as Reviewer and Editorial Board Member in many Peer Reviewed International Journals (including IEEE and Elsevier) and also served as Session Chair in Prestigious International Conferences. Prof. Bhatt also serves as a Member of the Standards Development Committee, The International Society of Automation (ISA), USA. He has supervised many interesting MTech Dissertations (PG Thesis) and BTech Projects (UG Thesis).

Prof. Jignesh G. Bhatt is currently serving as Principal Investigator for DoE, Govt. of Gujarat sponsored State Level Sponsored Research Project - “The Solar City - Smart Grid Project”, co-ordinated by Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI), Gandhinagar, wide an MoU signed in Vibrant Gujarat 2013 in the auspicious presence of Shri Narendra Modi, then Hon. Chief Minister, Gujarat.

Prof. Bhatt has also served as State-wide Coordinator for MHRD, Govt. of India sponsored National Level Extension and Service to Community Project - “VSAT-Enabled Mobile e-Learning Terminals (MeLT) Project”, nationally co-ordinated by IIT Roorkee.

His research interests include Automation Systems, Building Automation, Instrumentation, e-Governance, e-Learning, Process Control, Smart City, Smart Grid, Solar City, and Wireless Sensor Networks with special focus on Industrial and real-life applications.
