Welcome To a New Semester

Students are reviewing for CRCT. A research project will be assigned on World War II in preparation to learning about the Holocaust and the reading of Anne Frank.

Students will be working towards meeting the Georgia Performance Standards for reading 25 books. Each night students will be required to read 20 minutes and summarize what they have read. Students may choose to do this by writing on the KBAR (Kick back and Read) sheets or visually depicting what they have read. Each night students will have a short grammar exercise to practice what we have been working on  in class. The Literature portion of the class will start with short stories and then progress to novels. The novels will include, The Outsiders, The Pigman, The Giver and The Diary of Anne Frank. Each novel will have a work packet that students will be required to keep and turn in for a test grade. The writing portion of this class will include narrative, expository and persuasive papers as well as a research paper. One of these papers will be due each nine weeks.
