Sport Education is a new course we will be offering from summer 2009 onwards. The purpose of Sport Education is to maximise the pupils’ contribution to their learning through competitions in teams. Pupils are also given roles other than just playing (for example refereeing, time-keeper, coach etc.). This allows pupils to achieve all experiences in A Curriculum for Excellence.
Pupils are allowed to select two different activities which they will participate in throughout the year, one from summer to Christmas, and one from Christmas to the following summer. These activities will be negotiated between the teacher and pupil taking into account the facilities available.
