Harry Bird III is currently in his third year as the 5-12 instrumental music director at the Jesup Community Schools; where he is responsible for the marching bands, jazz bands, pep bands and concert bands. He is also in charge of the Beginning 5th and 6th grade bands. Before working in Jesup, Mr. Bird was the 5-12 instrumental music director at the Fredericksburg School District.
Mr. Bird grew up in Houston, TX, before moving in the 9th grade and graduating from McHenry High School East Campus, in McHenry, IL. Following high school, Mr. Bird attended Wartburg College, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education Degree with an emphasis in Tuba in 2001.
Mr. Bird was the guest conductor/clinician for over 175 students at the 2008 Walther Lutheran School Music Festival in Melrose Park, IL, where he rehearsed 5 pieces during the day, and put on a concert that evening. He frequently is on staff at Wartburg College's Band Camp, where students from all over the country come together and make wonderful music!
Mr. Bird lives in Jesup, and is an active tuba player in the area. He also teaches Tuba and Euphonium privately to students in surrounding areas.
