For my internship, I had the pleasure of working at my current school.I was able to work collaboratively with our media specialist, our instructional technology specialist, and numerous fellow teachers.I was also able to spend a day at a local elementary school and a day at a local high school.The diversity of activities, facilities, and assistance needed in these two levels truly amazed me.Thus far, my duties and projects have included:
·Assisting students when they are using the OPAC system as well as in locating materials
·Weeding the 700’s and 600’s in the nonfiction section of the media center
·Cataloging and labeling new books
·Participating in Media Committee meetings and department meetings
·Planning a collaborative unit with a sixth grade reading teacher
·Assisting with a reading promotion program (READ posters)
·Creating a general use flipchart (Active Whiteboards) for basic researching skills
·Assisting with the book fair
GACE results:
I took and passed the Media Specialist Test I and II on January 12, 2008.
