_______________________________________________ SPOTLIGHT ON WOMEN OF THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO
Each year V-Day increases awareness by focusing on a specific group of
women in the world who are resisting violence with courage and vision.
In 2009, V-Day's Spotlight Campaign will highlight the atrocities being committed against the women and girls of Democratic Republic of The Congo (DRC). ___________________________________________________ "SAY IT FOR THE COMFORT WOMEN" Say It 미안하다고 말해요 (an optional monologue in The Vagina Monologues) was chosen to be performed in the V-Day Jeonju 2009 Campaign as a way to honor and remember those women, including women from South Korea, who were forced into sexual slavery during World War II by the Japanese Army. ____________________________________________ HOW TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH V-DAY "V-Day is a demand: Rape, incest, battery, genital mutilation and sexual slavery must end now." |
"The time to change is now. Only by speaking out can we make a difference."
- United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon
