This Summer, so much is happening at Jenolan Caves!


DECEMBER, 2011


Dec 31, 2011 - Celebrate the New Year at Jenolan Caves House, the perfect setting for romance! 

This year the theme is 'A Night on the Titanic'. Just for fun (if you feel like it) come in the costume of 1912, or wear a ball gown or dinner jacket with a lifejacket! 


JANUARY 2012


Jan 9-29, 2012 - Kids eat, sleep and tour caves for FREE .


Dec 29 to Jan 24 - most Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:45 pm to 7 pm, you can attend a FREE lecture - fun and fascinating. There are many topics, such as 'The Dangerous World of Cave Diving' and 'Paranormal Jenolan - Ghosts & Orbs'.


Jan 7, 2012 - Music of the World - 'Horse and Wood' - Renowned Mongolian throat singer, Bukhchulluun Gangburged (Bukhu) and Middle Eastern groove specialists Oud Vibrations join forces, deep underground.


Jan 14, 2012 - True Enigmas -  Apparitions captured on camera, whistling, songs from empty caverns and sudden blasts of ice cold air. We will host a day devoted to exploring a wide range of phenomena, with a panel of three speakers, experts in their fields. 


Jan 21, 2012 - Georg Mertens - The haunting sound of the solo cello, deep underground.


Jan 28, 2012 - The Paganini Duo - sensual guitar and sizzling violin, deep underground in the famous Cathedral Chamber.


FEBRUARY, 2012


February 4, 2012 - Simon Watts & Glenn Skarratt - Deep underground, this dynamic duo will bring the exuberant sounds of violin, guitar, mandolin and bodhran (handheld Irish drum) to the award-winning Jenolan Caves.

Feb 11, 2012 - David Scheel - 'Don't Shoot Me, I'm the Piano Player!' - A runaway success in the West End, at successive Edinburgh Festivals and right across the USA, this is a hilarious send-up of classical music, which has established Australian pianist, David Scheel, as the successor to the legendary Victor Borge. 


February 17 & 18, 2012 - Underground Opera Company presents Opera in the Caves, one of our major annual events - You don't need to be an opera buff to be totally seduced by Opera in the Grand Arch and Opera in the Cathedral.

Jenolan Caves Blitzes Awards Night
Best Tourist Attraction in NSW!
In case you have not heard, on Nov 17, at a glittering awards night, NSW Tourism bestowed 4 prestigious accolades on Jenolan Caves: gold in the ‘Tourist Attraction’ category (best attraction in NSW); gold in the ‘Culture & Heritage’ category and 2 silvers - for ‘Ecotourism’ and Adventure Tourism’. 

As well, Jenolan’s restaurant, Chisolm’s was a finalist in ‘Tourism Restaurants & Catering Services’ category. This is the 2nd year that Jenolan Caves has won gold at state level. 


Record number of visitors
We are delighted to report that we are having an excellent holiday season so far. We had 10,003 cave visits in the 5 days from December 25th to 29th. 

The 29th in particular set a new record for a single day in the Christmas period with 2,804 cave visits.
