Why Hoof Logic? 

The field of hoof care is currently in an explosive phase of scientific scrutiny and fundamental change. New evidence detailing the anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics of healthy and pathological hooves has caused hoof care providers and veterinarians to re-think their strategies for maintaining hooves. 

Properly maintaining an average healthy hoof involves a multi-faceted approach with a physiologic trim at its cornerstone. Rehabilitation of pathologic hooves requires thorough knowledge of hoof science in order to devise customized therapeutic regimens that truly achieve the desired outcome - a healthier hoof. The age of the "band-aid approach" is over.

The type of hoof care I advocate is logical. A trim that allows your horse's hooves to work the way they are intended to - with physiologically correct mechanism for healthy circulation, shock absorption, & tissue resilience - allows the hooves to develop to their potential. Many common ailments originating in the hooves can be overcome, and possibly even totally reversed, if the hooves are given the right opportunity. In addition to the trim itself, the horse's diet, environment, medical health, hoof infections, and hoof protection for riding or other activities ALL must be addressed.

I am happy to work closely with owners to devise solutions to bring out the best in horses and their hooves. I have ample experience providing care for various breeds of horses, hoof diseases, metabolic effects, stabling challenges, and treatment solutions. I will devise a tailored approach that benefits your horse and fits with your goals.

• I am available to transition & maintain natural barefoot horses of all shapes, sizes, ages, & abilities. I have extensive experience with challenging hoof cases as well as straightforward trims. 
• I can teach you to trim & coach you as needed. 
• I am also happy to evaluate your horse and consult with your current equine healthcare professionals to provide recommendations. 
  
• I recommend and am experienced with fitting Easyboot Epics™, Old Mac G2's™, and Renegade^® Boots. I can help fit your horse with the correct pair of hoof boots with any necessary padding or modifications for his/her comfort during transition or for longer-term protection.
• I have trained at the Epona Institute in Paso Robles, CA, to apply Epona Shoes. I am thrilled to offer this Service to appropriate clients.
