Councilwoman Elect Jenice "JJ" Dove has been a Thornton citizen for 35 years, and a citizen of Adams County for over 37 years. She had not planned on running for government office, but now after some careful consideration, she believes that after seeing what is currently occurring in The City of Thornton in specific Ward 1, she has made the right choice to go, run, and to lead; Jenice "JJ" Dove is running for Thornton City Council Ward 1 and this is her official website here is where you will find some of the many ways you can help us elect Jenice "JJ" Dove to our Thornton City Council. One of the most important ways you can help is by casting your ballot this November for Jenice "JJ" Dove for Thornton City Council Ward 1. Below you will find Jenice "JJ" Dove's bio. and her contact info. If you have any questions during the construction of this website please feel free to contact us! Bio: I am a 65 year old woman retired from Vibra Health Care, currently I work for Optimal Home Care; I raised three girls as a single parent mother. My family is 3 generations strong here in Thornton. I have been in health care for many years. While I was at Vibra most of my years were spent working with vented patients. This is where I have gained a great deal of compassion and learned to really listen to what people are saying. I have been a certified nursing assistant and a restorative therapist for many years. While working with patients, listening to what they had to say about how they got to be in their current state of health, I would wonder what I could do to make a difference. After putting a lot of thought into this I realized that this is where it all began. I thought a lot about inequity, and what could I do to try to make things more equal. Giving that a lot of thought led me to thinking about what I could do to listen and try to make it equal for all. In Thornton specifically Ward 1 I began to listen to the voice of the citizens around me, it became clear that the Ward 1 citizens clearly identified that we are the unconsidered of all four Wards. Ward 1 is 55 years old and in great need of revitalization, again there were the cries of the citizens that were being made but not being heard. Revitalization is on its way now thanks to some citizen’s including my self who worked on the Thornton Revitalization Task Force. Revitalization will take time but it is coming, I plan to be one of the people that helps bring “the new life” back to Ward 1. I will listen and I will do my part, something that is not just my promise but has become my campaign slogan. I plan to take a stand for the Thornton citizens and continue to keep my promise to listen to what they not only want but need. Please be assured I will be a council woman that keeps my promise. Now I know that things are not that easily done, and certainly not that quick, but I plan to work hard until the job is done. Thornton is currently working hard to insure that the promise that was made to the people of Thornton is kept. I plan on being one of the people that helps champions that cause. I would like to thank everyone for their support in the election for year 2009 and 2011, I look forward to serving the people of Thornton! -Warmly Councilwoman Elect "JJ" Dove.
