A Few Funs Facts

  • the average daily ride length is 80 miles, about the same as running 20 miles or 3/4 of a marathon
  • there are 45 days of rides, with some as long as 120 miles
  • numerous days will be as long as running a marathon, some even longer
  • my average speed with climbs is about 17 miles per hour, or on flat land about 21 miles per hour
  • my calorie burn rate at those speeds is about 800 calories per hour
  • this trip will burn about 175,000 calories over and above my daily requirement, which is about 45 lbs
  • the ride will take about 230 hours to complete
  • the climbs total 108,155 feet, which is as high as the top of Mt Everest, not once or twice, but 3.5 times
  • there will be about 1.3 million rotations of my pedals
