This site will be used as a sample for my students in EDUC 601 at Piedmont College, Demorest, Georgia during the Summer 2008 semester. Dear Students, You will be building a web site that is modeled after this one. You will have similar pages and layout. You will also have some freedom of deciding exactly what to place on your web site. The required components for EDUC 601 are: 1. A class web site - This site could be used by students, parents and other educators. It might include a link for a class newsletter (communicating with parents), a daily schedule, projects, assignments, field trips, extra-curricular events, novel studies, supply lists, technology integration news, favorite links, a link to the school menu, maps, course content, etc. You will work with other teachers in EDUC 601 to decide the “basic” content that you need to include. There are numerous topics that could be included in a teacher’s web site so I encourage you to explore what’s on the Internet to get ideas to use in creating your teacher’s web site. 2. An electronic portfolio (e-Portfolio) - Describe yourself by giving your background, education degrees and experience, education philosophy, and other things parents may want to know. Attach to that section your Unit Plan for EDUC 601 and all assignments. This will be fully explained in class. If you so desire, you may create sections for other Piedmont courses where you can display additional course work. The electronic portfolio serves as an organized repository for your work. You may collect and display work you create during your graduate studies, such as lesson plans, tech projects, assessments, evidence of meeting dispositions or standards, etc. There are many kinds of portfolios on the Internet and you may decide what to create beyond the EDUC601 requirements.
