Community Forums Set To Discuss Options To Address Middle School Overcrowding

The Fulton County School System is hosting two meetings this month to receive community input on how to relieve overcrowding in North Fulton middle schools.

SPLOST IV, which was approved by voters in November 2011, calls for either a new middle school in the North Fulton area or adding classrooms to existing schools. The meetings will al low parents and other community members an opportunity to share their thoughts.

The forums, both beginning at 7 p.m., are set for March 19 at Taylor Road Middle School and March 26 at Elkins Pointe Middle School. The same information will be presented at both meetings so community members only need to attend only one meeting. In addition, comments will be collected via the Operational Planning’s web site at www.fultonschools.org/redistricting, beginning March 19.

A Letter from your PTSA Co-Presidents!

July 22, 2011

Dear Johns Creek High School Parents:

The Johns Creek PTSA welcomes you to the 2011-2012 school year!  We are proud of what we accomplished during our first two years.  This summer our PTSA was awarded 1st place Outstanding High School Local Unit by the Georgia PTA and with your help, we are planning even more for this upcoming year.

As parents of high school students, whether they are freshmen or preparing to graduate (or somewhere in-between) you will have many concerns.  Please know that your PTSA Board is here to answer your questions and to help guide you through this year and all the years ahead.

During our first two years, we initiated the following programs:

·         Senior Treats

·         Reflections

·         Honor Roll Recognition

·         PTSA Newsletter/Weekly E-Blasts

·         SAT/ACT Recognition Wall

·         Homecoming Coat Check

·         Red Ribbon Week

·         Volunteer Staffing of Front Office, Media Center, Attendance Office, Career & College Center

·         Teacher Stipends/Support/Appreciation

·         Student Directory

·         JCHS PTSA Service Scholarship for Seniors

·         Project Graduation

·         Facility Enhancements including flags in parking lots and recognition wall in front entrance of school

We would like you to join us by becoming a member.  Membership is our only fundraiser and as a relatively new PTSA we really need for everyone to become involved by joining us. One additional benefit to joining the PTSA is seniors are able to apply for a scholarship through the North Fulton Council PTA. We also started our own PTSA service scholarship for seniors.  These scholarships are only only available to students who are members of their school’s PTSA.    We also participate in the Safe Homes programs.  All families that sign up for this program will be listed in the school directory.

This year there will not be an Information Day for upperclassmen.  PLEASE mail in your membership form or drop the form off in the front office in the box labeled PTSA Memberships.  We need all families to join the PTSA so we can continue running our wonderful programs.  We look forward to meeting new freshman parents and students on Information Day on August 10th from 9:30 -11am.  Look for our PTSA Table where you can join the PTSA and/or sign up to volunteer.

We also invite you to join us by volunteering.  The only way to keep the above programs running is through our volunteers – you get to choose how many hours you can give and what programs to involve yourself with; whether you work at the school or from your home.

By visiting our website you will stay involved with all activities taking place at the school and stay informed about your student’s school life.  Look for the PTSA link on the school website (www.johnscreekhs.net).  We welcome and encourage you to make comments and inform us as to any ideas you may have.

Welcome to our 2011-2012 school year at Johns Creek HighSchool!
