Staff and Jr Staff Orientation and camp preparation will take place from 1:00-5:00 PM at Camp Guyasuta on Sunday, June 24, 2012.
BB and Archery range instructors must set-up their ranges by Sunday afternoon! Any staff who cannot make this orientation meeting must contact the Camp Director in advance. Please take a moment to read the "Dear Camp Staff" subpage linked below.
All staff must have their forms (staff application, staff agreement, Youth Protection training certification card (good for 2 years), camp medical forms (Parts A & B of the new BSA form, attached below), and range instructor card (if applicable) turned in by this time. Ideally these forms would be turned in by the Japeechen Roundtable Meeting on Wednesday, June 6th. Staff need to be registered Scouters. Jr Staff need to be registered Boy Scouts. Forms can be submitted to the Camp Director, Karen Brienza, in advance at Japeechen District Roundtable meetings (first Wednesdays), at the Day Camp Meeting for Pack Representatives (June 6th), via email (japeechendaycamp@yahoo.com) or via snail mail (Camp Director's address available on request). Jr Staff must be at least 14 years of age in order to staff the BB or archery ranges. Any Jr Staff under 14 may volunteer to work at a station under the supervision of a Unit leader or parent in camp. ***There are new requirements from National BSA. BB and Archery Range instructors must be trained by a National Camp School trained instructor or have NRA training.
BB and Archery Range instructor training will be held on Saturday, April 28, 12 noon to 4:00 PM at Camp Guyasuta in Sharpsburg, and Saturday, May 19, 12 noon to 4 PM at Camp Twin Echo in New Florence. Anyone over 18 interested in running a range must be trained. Participants MUST be pre-registered for the training. Send participant(s) Name (First, MI, Last), Address, Phone, email, Unit type (Pack/Troop/Crew) and number, and District to the Day Camp Director at japeechendaycamp@yahoo.com or submit the instructor training registration form attached below.
