Jan Stoneman, 20, is in his third year of study with Sam Adler at The Juilliard School for his bachelors in music. His “Piano Trio (2008): I” and “a short parody for dance” arranged for chamber orchestra made him the 2009 Winner of the William H. Banchs NFAA prize in composition and finalist at the NFAA’s youngARTS Week 2009. Summer music festivals attended include the young artist composition programs of BUTI (2007 & 2008), Yellow Barn (2008), and the Brevard Music Center (2006) . Gino di Marco of the Boston Ballet choreographed the solo piano version of “a short parody for dance” as part of Dinosaur Annex’s Young Composers Festival. Private instruction and master class experiences include studies with Kati Agócs, Martin Amlin, Stephen Coxe, Joshua Fineberg, Fred Lerdahl, Harold Shapero, Tanglewood Fellows (summers 2007 & 2008), Chris Theofanidis, Joan Tower, and Benjamin Zander.
