I was so impressed with The Other Laura's fair isle hat that I had to try one. I asked my son if he wanted a skull hat and he said, "A zombie hat would be cooler." Of course he was right. Gauge: 36 stitches and 40 rows = 4” Directions With MC cast on 160 stitches. Place marker and join. Work in K2 P2 rib until piece measures 1” from beginning. Round 1: With MC, knit 1 round, increasing 8 stitches evenly across round (168 stitches). Rounds 2-9: Work 8 rows of Pattern A Round 10: With MC, knit 1 round Rounds 11-16: Work 6 rows of Pattern B. Round 17: With MC, knit 1 round Rounds 18-33: Work 16 rows of Pattern C. Round 34: With MC, knit 1 round Rounds 35-40: Work 6 rows of Pattern B. Cut off CC and continue with MC only. You will now start decreasing to shape the top of the hat. Switch to double-pointed needles as needed to avoid over-stretching the yarn.
