What I've been doing August 2011

August was a very exciting month as I was involved with the East Grinstead International Arts Festival. We had many Artists and Musicians and even Actors, both local and from further afield and a whole week of great shows and Exhibitions in the town. Our theme was the universal appeal and value of Art and I was very lucky indeed to be able to get David Shepherd, one of my personal heroes, both to open the Festival for us and to actually speak at our young people's Wildlife Workshop. We ran the workshop on the theme of his own Global Canvas Competition, which is run annually for young Artists and like all David's work, is aimed at educating people on Conservation and the issues Wildlife faces in Mans' world today. Both events were a great success. Here are some photos of the day and of the workshop.

David addresses the crowd with the local Mayor John Saul in attendance.

David lends a hand with an ongoing Alice in Wonderland Mural. We had a
Mad Hatters Tea Party as part of the Festival!

Showing David around our historic High Street.
Talking to David about my Portrait of Hercules and showing him the Print. I am really pleased with the quality of these Prints which are done to the very highest standard and hard to distinguish from the original. The colourful characters to the right are popular band The Jive Aces.

    Wildlife Workshop
This was an amazing success. David spoke at length about his adventures with, and love of animals as well as his fears for their future today. The children really got it and some wonderful work and ideas were forthcoming at the end.

David's PA  Sue hold up his latest work, fresh off the canvas. We were all delighted he had brought along an original and he chose of course, the animal right now under the direst threat in the Wild today. Beautiful and imperilled to the brink of extinction. Above and right, David oversees and offers advice to some of the young Artists at the workshop.
