Quiz/Test Policy

Quizzes and Tests:

Assessments (including quizzes and tests) account for 70% of the student's overall math grade.

Quizzes will be given frequently and will cover prior material as well as recently learned concepts.

Opportunities for corrections will be given on quizzes where students have earned 74% or below.   Students are encouraged to do Quiz Corrections (click for form) to raise their scores.  Quiz Corrections require students to 1) clearly explain their math errors (in complete sentences, using appropriate mathematical language), 2) show a completely worked-out and correct solution to the math problem, and 3) clearly explain the correct procedure they used to "fix" their errors (in complete sentences, using appropriate mathematical language).  Students are able to earn up a grade of 75% on a quiz by doing Quiz Corrections.

Unit/Chapter tests will be given approximately every 3 weeks, at the completion of a unit of study.  Also, cumulative mid-term and final exams will be given at the end of the first semester and the end of the school year.

If a student is absent for a quiz or test, he/she must make up the examination upon return. This may be on the day of the return or within one week of the absence as arranged with the teacher.  If not made-up, the student will receive a zero for the assessment.
