Use Sproutbuilder to Make Communications Pages

The online Flash tool at the website: http://sproutbuilder.com/  can be used to create projects like slideshows, and also to create communications aids.
To see the sample page I built go here: http://jamjolu.webs.com/blog.htm

This document describes how I made the simple point and click page in the above sample.
Each "communication page"  should be considered a separate project that actually consists of several Sprout pages. The concept could then easily be expanded to link multiple projects together.  Sprout plays sound files either by clicking the play button an the audio player that appears on a page, or automatically when a page is opened. So, each button that you hope will produce a voice output will have its own page with its own sound file.

To start, plan your page.  Then collect in folders, or identify the locations of any assets you will need, both picture and sound files (which must be mp3 format.)

Start with a blank template and give it a name. {Click the "New/Open button}

Click the Assets tab. Upload any picture and sound files you will need to build your page by clicking the "Add Assets button. Click "Close Tray" when you upload all of your assets.

Select the master pages tab, click the Background icon and set the color to a color against which your pictures will contrast nicely.
.

Select the foreground tab on the master pages tab  and insert pictures (icons) to act as buttons for all your audio messages by dragging them from the Assets tab onto your master page. Anything inserted into a master page will appear on all regular pages. Rearrange the pictures as you desire.Set the picture properties in the right hand panel to enhance the border if you like, and include an effect to reinforce the users selection with the mouse down action. I chose "glow" in the sample I made.

Click the pages tab and make a copy of the "untitled" page for each communications picture on your page.

Rename the page "Untiltled" as "Main". Rename the each of the other copies for each of the pictures you have on your main page.

Select the Master Page tab again, and click the Foreground icon. Set the link of each picture in the right hand properties panel to reference the appropriate page.
.
Select the Pages tab. Click each of the page icons and insert the associated audio file from the Asset tab by dragging the appropriate audio resource onto the page. Set the property of the audio file to "Autoplay" in the right hand panel.

Click "Publish" when you are done. Once published you can elect to have your pages appear in many of the sites referenced on the right side of the representation of your completed page. I opened a "Freewebs" account and posted a link to my sample project to the Blog section of my Freewebs site: http://jamjolu.webs.com/blog.htm
