Use The Freeware Powerbullet Flash Tool to Create Simple Communications Pages

Like Sproutbuilder,  Powerbullet creates a flash file that can be use as simple, point and click, voice output, communications page. Unlike Sproutbuilder, Powerbullet's output is created offline. Further, Powerbullet generates not only a Flash file (.swf), but also a web page with the swf file referenced, and a standalone executable version that will likely play on almost any Windows computer. Here is how:

Like Sproutbuilder we will create a set of pages, one page for each picture icon on our communications page. Each page will play one of the sound files automatically as it opens. Each picture will link to an appropriate page. See the sample page here:

1. Download and install Powebullet : http://www.powerbullet.com/

2 Open Powerbullet Presenter and select "New" from the "File" menu. Give your project a name.

3. Set the background color by clicking the little yellow paint bucket icon on the right side of the third toolbar as shown below:

4. Add a page for every picture you want displayed, plus an opening page:

5. On the page 1 (the opening page)  insert  the desired images using the "Insert" menu:

6. Arrange the images on page 1.

7. Set the page links for each image. I set the upper left picture to Page 2, and the cheerios picture set to Page 3, and so on. If you right-click on a picture, you can select "Item hyperlink" from the context menu that opens:

8. Then type in a page hyperlink as shown using the underscore character:

9. After setting your page links, choose "Select All" from the "Edit" menu, followed by "Copy". Then paste the copied picture elements to all the other pages.

10. For each page (in this case pages 2 through 6) insert the appropriate sound file:

11. You can test your work by selecting "Preview" from the "Page" menu. Before exporting your pages, adjust the export settings:

I set the  "Manual" advance control, and unchecked the "Navigation" buttons:

12. Export (publish) your work. The produced output files will be in the Powerbullet folder that resides in your Documents folder.:
