This is the webpage for my IMDL project, Shoot 'Em Up, for Spring 2009. The goal was to build a robot that would shoot a ping pong ball into a cup, i.e. play beer pong. The building of the robot can be broken down into a few sections: the platform, the sensors, the actuation and the behavior of the robot.

I will be using a CMUCam 2+ and sonar to find the target, the bright red plastic cups that I will be shooting towards. IR sensors will be used for obstacle avoidance. For the launching action, I used a solenoid to "punch" a moment arm that launches the ball.

The platform consists of two plexiglass sheets and 8 aluminum spacers for support. It has 4 DC motors attached to omni-wheels to allow the robot to move in any direction at any time without having to pivot or rotate first.
