The 30-gallon tank is set up in the bedroom with water, gravel and pump/filter. The lights on the hood work and Karin noticed that aquarium stands were reduced to $15, from $60, yesterday. Grabbed one and recruited her help in assembling it. Still trying to decide what kind of fish. I'd been thinking "tropical", with an emphasis on Angel Fish and Tetras, maybe, but have gotten more interested in cichlids, since that's what Karin put into her tank. Maybe I'll let that be her domain and stick with my original plan. I'm quite pleased with the way the original 55-gallon tank is doing in the living room. Healthy water and all the fish from round-2 of stocking it are still thriving. Counting Stripey, the soul survivor of round-1, I have 7 always-active, always-hungry goldfish. The cats largely ignore them, which is a good thing, because I don't look forward to them taking a swim. Hoods aren't made for walking. :-D Incidentally, Stripey has lost the black strip on his tail that gave him his name, but the name sticks. I never was really into naming fish, but since goldfish do have such variety I did. They are Stripey, Obama (the big fish), Comet, Cupit, Goldie II, Token, and Kiko. |
