Already a sad anniversary, I got a ticket, found out that a $100 gift card I had was used at a jewelry store in Oregon, and my new R/C airplane got stock in a tree! Twice!

Lost a goldfish yesterday. First one in a long time. All the others are thriving. Lost 2 of the original 4 angelfish. Exiled the remaining 2 bullies to the goldfish tank where they're doing fine. Bought 2 more angels for the bedroom which are diong fine, and a Rummy-nose Tetra, which is pretty neat.

Just loved Billy Elliot and The Taking of Pelham 123 (from 1974? Not the remake, which I haven't seen).

Fish Stories

posted ‎‎Jul 21, 2009 8:30 AM‎‎ by James Messick

The 30-gallon tank is set up in the bedroom with water, gravel and pump/filter. The lights on the hood work and Karin noticed that aquarium stands were reduced to $15, from $60, yesterday. Grabbed one and recruited her help in assembling it. Still trying to decide what kind of fish. I'd been thinking "tropical", with an emphasis on Angel Fish and Tetras, maybe, but have gotten more interested in cichlids, since that's what Karin put into her tank. Maybe I'll let that be her domain and stick with my original plan. I'm quite pleased with the way the original 55-gallon tank is doing in the living room. Healthy water and all the fish from round-2 of stocking it are still thriving. Counting Stripey, the soul survivor of round-1, I have 7 always-active, always-hungry goldfish. The cats largely ignore them, which is a good thing, because I don't look forward to them taking a swim. Hoods aren't made for walking. :-D  Incidentally, Stripey has lost the black strip on his tail that gave him his name, but the name sticks.

I never was really into naming fish, but  since goldfish do have such variety I did. They are Stripey, Obama (the big fish), Comet, Cupit, Goldie II, Token, and Kiko.

Music to Camp By

Our campsite was within earshot of a church that still plays "chime music" or whatever you call it. It was lovely, and they did stop at 10pm.

Found Tim Lix on facebook, someone I knew only briefly in 1981, my freshman year of college, but have never forgotten. Quickly becomming a facebook addict.
