What is it?
The Canadian Go Association Winter Cup is an online tournament held each Winter for members of the Canadian Go association. Information on joining the CGA is available on the CGA website http://www.go-canada.org . The tournament typically starts from early/mid January. The Open Division(5D+) serves as the qualified from the Canadian representatives to the ING/Master Tournament, held at the US Go Congress. Below 5D players will be split into divisions based on the numbers of entrants, and division winners are typically given book prizes.
The tournament is usually 6 rounds, with about 1 1/2 weeks per round. Komi is 6.5, and the time controls are 45 minutes basic time, with 10/25 Canadian Byo-Yomi repeating for overtime.
