J.c.S is proud to introduce the Rogers Serpent Mouthpiece! Modeled after an original by the late serpent maker and craftsman, Keith Rogers, these mouthpieces are designed to give a characteristic sound on the church serpent and bass horn. In addition, the mouthpieces offer modern low brass performers a viable option for the performance of works which include serpent, by employing the mouthpiece on either Baritone or Euphonium.
Turning a Rogers 280 with custom exterior.
When used in a modern "English" baritone or a euphonium, the Rogers Mouthpiece will deliver the breathy, warm, blending timbre indicative of these historic instruments. These can be made with either the traditional "cookie-cutter" (narrow) rim or a modern trombone/euphonium rim, in either tenor (255) or bass (280) sizes. African Blackwood and Olivewood are preferred, but a variety of woods are available; contact us for availability.
For those who have never tried a serpent, these mouthpieces offer an insight to the tone-quality and playing characteristics of the serpent. Interested? Contact us:
