Porting from J2ME to Android can be a hassle - take the sting out of it with the J2ME to Android (J2ME2Android) porting service from www.garethmurfin.co.uk. Freelance Android Porter - now specialising in J2ME to Google Android (G1). J2ME Fragmentation We all know how fragmented the world of J2ME is, I'm sure most mobile developers have considered this variant of Java to be more like write once debug everywhere than write once run anywhere and the need for a port for different J2ME devices is ludicrous. The very fact that Electronic Arts produce 4000 (yes thats right, 4000) different builds of a single mobile game suggests that something is wrong. Fear not the Android is here! Google have entered the market with Google Android, which should hopefully blast J2ME out of the water in terms of robustness with respect to different devices. Why is Android any better you might ask? Well the Java support is consistent, as well as the SDK's emulator - if it works on the emulator, it works on the device, if it works on one Google Android phone it will work the same on another. That is the way it should have been and that is the way it will be once Android dominates. But, the first step towards embracing Android is to actually convert (port) your J2ME code bases, games and applications to Google Androids own Java system, which is different from the way MIDlets work. I have begun to specialise in this exact skill since the market is demanding it right now, and I have successfully ported many popular applications and canvas based games. I am now available to hire to port your application, game or code to Android. The code will be converted manually by myself and utilising the huge amount of reusable code I already have, for example I have ported the J2ME Graphics and Image classes in their entirety to Android. About me My CV/Resume can be seen here: and a graphical portfolio can be seen here: Im available for hire now, contact me for a cost / time quote for your projects: gareth.murfin@gmail.com I am interested in freelance contracts, contract based work and anything Java, J2ME or Android related.
