CONDUCT INFORMATION

  • METRO INDY HOCKEY COUNCIL DISCIPLINARY AGREEMENT

Based on your child's participation in the Indianapolis Youth Hockey Association's Fall House Program, you, your player, and your family agree to abide by the principles of fair play and sportsmanship set down in this document METRO INDY HOCKEY COUNCIL DISCIPLINARY AGREEMENT

  • ZERO TOLERANCE LETTER

Dear Coaches, Players, Parents and Hockey Fans,

The various hockey organizations across the Indianapolis area have been working together to try and improve the perception and knowledge of hockey in the Indianapolis area.

One of the biggest obstacles that the hockey community encounters is the overall perception that hockey is a rough sport, not only on the ice but in the stands. While most of the participants, either in the game or watching the game, handle themselves in a manner that is appropriate, unfortunately, there are the few that do not. These few individuals tend to garner the attention in the media which helps fuels the negative perception of the sport.

Please remember that everyone makes mistakes. Whether it is the official on the ice, the coach on the bench or the player. Mistakes happen. There is a video on Youtube called “The Magic Hockey Helmet.”

This video should be watched by anyone who is a hockey parent, the new hockey parent to the parent whose child has played for years, along with family and friends who attend games. While the video is done in a cut manner, there is a serious message there.

TEAM PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcome to the 2009-2010 IYHA House League season! We are looking forward to a great experience for the players, parents, and coaches. In an effort to help get organized as we have just completed our first official week of practices, the IYHA board would like to offer assistance to any and all team parents that would like some guidance to assist their respective coaches in organizing and communicating team activities

COACHING INFORMATION

It is every Coaches responsibility to submit all Volunteer Screening and CEP documents and/or copies of their current CEP Cards

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD VOLUNTEERS

This season one of the IYHA areas of emphasis is to make sure that all participants have a positive experience both on and off the ice.

LOCKER ROOM ASSISTANTS

As the season begins and teams are formed, we will be seeking one or two volunteers from each team who will be willing to assist the coaches in monitoring locker rooms. Two responsible adults should be in a locker room whenever any players are present. USA Hockey rules require that adults who are in direct contact

with youth players undergo background screenings through the company selected by USA Hockey. We will not be able to accept screenings done for other organizations. The screening cost is $30. Please consider whether you are willing to assist us in this way to help maintain a safe and positive environment for our players. We will send out more information about this volunteer opportunity as the season begins.

SPECIAL PROJECTS VOLUNTEERS

We are also looking for several energetic volunteers to help the IYHA on special projects. These projects can range from helping organize events to helping copying and distributing materials, from helping coordinate fundraisers to contacting potential sponsors and anything in between.

If you are interested in helping in either of these areas, please contact IYHA via email ( iyhamail@iyha.com ) or phone ( 317.815.0499 ).
