Astronomy camp “Kokino 2009”

Friday, September the 18^th 2009

 

Until 15:00 – Arrival of the participants in Skopje;

 

16:00 – Departure from Skopje;

17:30 – Arrival at the boarding house in Dragomance and accommodation of the participants;

19:00 – Unofficial opening of the camp:

·         Presentation of the project and the program of the camp;

·         Registration of the participants and informal address of the organizers;

·         Allocating participants to different work groups for the evening observations;

·         Distribution of the educational material;

20:00 – Departure for the observation post and field observations until the early morning hours;

(Alternative program in case of bad weather: lectures, viewing a documentary, a mini-course in astrophotography and using astronomical software)

 

            Saturday, September the 19^th, 2009

 

09:00 – Breakfast;

10:00 – Lecture: Marija Nikolic – “Extrasolar planets”;

11:30 – Departure for the megalithic observatory Kokino;

12:00 – Official opening of the camp:

·         A brief exposure of the project and IYA2009;

·         A speech by the Mayor of the municipality Staro Nagorichane, Mr. Miodrag Jovanovic;

·         A short address of the president of the Macedonian Astronomical Society, Assistant Professor Dr. Gordana Apostolovska;

·         A visit to the megalithic observatory Kokino and a presentation by the archeologist Jovica Stankovski;

14:00 – Departure from Kokino and returning to the boarding house;

14:30 – Lunch;

15:30 – Lecture: Dr. Gordana Apostolovska – “Small objects in the Solar system”;

16:30 – Workshop: Making a model of the Solar system;

18:30 – Break (games);

20:00 – Departure for the observation post and field observations until the early morning hours;

            Sunday, September the 20^th 2009

 

09:00 – Breakfast;

10:00 – Filling the questionnaire, discussion;

11:30 – Lecture (optional);

12:30 – Astronomical quiz;
