Overview The library is the repository of documents managed exclusively by administrators. Registered users cannot add or edit documents in the library - they can only view or download them. The library is organized into categories and any category can contain other categories. Documents without a category are considered to be in the Root of the library. Additionally, documents can be contained in multiple categories. This flexibility in hierarchy can be a blessing and a curse depending on how its used. Things can get even more complicated when Nexus permissions are factored in. Viewing the Library The most common way to view the library is using the Library Browser. The library browser has two views - icon and list. In icon view, the files appears as small icons with the name of the document below. You can click on the arrow at the top of the rectangle to display a menu of options for that file. Additionally, you can drag the whole thing by clicking on the caption area of the rectangle. Possible drop targets include category icons, the trash and the briefcase which should always be visible. You can select multiple items in one of two ways: click on the caption area of the rectangle or click in an empty area of the library browser area and drag a marquee around those documents you want to select. In both cases, selection will be indicated by a change in the outline color of the file rectangle. You can switch to the list view by clicking on the view toggle button located at the top of the browsing area. This view offers the advantage of showing the entire title and description plus all the actions that can be performed without having to display menu first. |
