About RAK CAM




The Ras Al Khaimah Center for Advanced Materials (RAK CAM) was founded in late 2007 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. 

The creation of RAK CAM comes in the middle of the scientific and technical revolution of Advanced Materials. In the last decade enormous progress has been made in the synthesis, characterization, and understanding of materials with atomic dimensions.


The mission of RAK CAM is to advance, explore and exploit the forefront of the science and engineering of Advanced Materials Our aim is to become a flagship for advanced research in the Middle East and to become one of the leading centres in the design, synthesis, tailored properties, and applications of Advanced Materials.


RAK CAM will achieve this mission:
  1. By developing, maintaining and fostering pioneering Research in advanced materials;
  2. By providing Educational and training opportunities for aspiring scientists and engineers from the emirate and the region;
  3. By carrying out state of the art research in support of Local Industries;
  4. By creating new visions and concepts for Energy Security and sustainable development in the emirate; and
  5. By producing leading edge Technologies that will stimulate the creation of regional Business Opportunities
