The International Workshops on Advanced Materials (IWAM) are annual conferences hosted by the Ras Al Khaimah Center for Advanced Materials. IWAM attracts quality scientific researchers to attend and share their expertise in an intensive 3-day conference that covers all aspects and applications of materials science, from environmental issues to bio-medical applications. The first International Workshop on Advanced Materials (IWAM) organized by RAK-CAM took place at Al Hamra Fort hotel in Ras Al Khaimah during the period of 22-24 February, 2009. The Invited Speakers represented an outstanding group of world leaders in advanced materials from the USA, United Kingdom, India, Germany and Sweden. More than 100 scientists from 25 countries around the world participated in the workshop by presenting their work on the fundamental science and applications of advanced materials. Topics addressed in the workshop included nanomaterials and nanotechnology, materials for solar energy, hydrocarbon processing, water purification, energy storage and environmental remediation. IWAM 2010, held in February this year, was hosted at the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Resort & Spa and focused on Nanomaterials and Nanocatalysis Nanocatalysis for Energy and Environmental Applications: Materials for Solar Energy, Hydrocarbon Processing, Water Purification, Energy Storage & Environmental Remediation At each annual IWAM, a select number of graduate students have the opportunity to present their work during poster sessions at the event. Candidates interested in applying to present at IWAM 2011 can send in an abstract along with a confirmation of student status to info@rakcam.ae to apply. |
