Process Assessments

Process Assessments are a way to compare an IT service provider with the IT Service CMM, in order to determine the maturity of the organization. Three kinds of assessments are distinguished:

  • Self-assessment: the organization performs an assessment to determine its current maturity and to generate improvement points.
  • Second-party assessment (also called capability evaluation): a customer evaluates the process maturity of potential IT service providers to determine the suitability of the providers' process capability.
  • Third-part assessment (also called capability evaluation): a neutral third party performs the assessment.
