Part V: Extending the Possibilities of Your Podcast

Try to produce quality shows

  •  How to Decide on a Podcast Topic

    • What hobbies and interests do you have?:
    • What do you like talking about?
    • What job would you take even if you wouldn't get paid for doing it?
    • What do your friends always come to you for advice about?

  • Decide what you hope to accomplish with your podcast
    • Teach a "how to..." course
    • spice up your blog
    • Increase sales for your business
      • Look at the market
      •  How many people do you hope to reach?
      • How much competition will you have?
  • Practice good recording practices
  • Do's
     Use a good microphone
       in a quiet, undisturbed
room. Any $10 microphone will work--it is important that you NOT use the one built into your computer, as it will pick up the noises coming from your computer.
    • Use a headset to monitor
your voice, or else you will get feedback from the microphone
    • Speak clearly
  •   Don'ts
     Avoid using a generic
      wide range microphone.
    • Turn off your computer
      speakers when recording
      to avoid feedback
