Big Ideas
Through readings, class exercises and discussions, this course will focus on the following inquiry:
  • How will we teach in the 21st century? How do we learn with 21st century technology?
  • How do we design, assess & deliver effective learning experiences for today's students?
  • How can we use new media technology in support of teaching complex thinking?
  • Which instructional strategies will help students practice, review, and apply learning?

Course Objectives

Course Description:

This is a course for teachers who want to learn how to motivate and teach others how to integrate information technology into the K-12 curriculum. Conceptual Framework
Preparing reflective and innovative professionals as leaders to ensure the educational development of diverse populations within dynamic educational contexts.

Skills: Students will know how to:
  • find, evaluate, and use web 2.0 collaboration tools for K12 classrooms
  • apply the elements of curriculum design with technology
  • employ a variety of instructional technology oriented strategies to support learning
Content: Students will understand how to:
  • design, deliver, and evaluate a hands-on workshop for teachers
  • design effective student performance(s) & appropriate assessment(s) to a unit of study for K12 students
  • design engaging and effective classroom experiences with digitized primary sources
