Christmas Party: When: Friday, December 18th starting at 6:00 pm Where: Sportsman’s Club Caterer: Sportsman’s Club Cost per person: $15 per member, $25 per non-member Dress: Dress is casual nice Send your Christmas Party reservation checks made out to ICO to Dino Cassar at 2409 Glenn Ave , Del City, OK 73115 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and the number of members and guests (by name please) that will attend. For more info see Christmas Party Flyer. A Special Request: Diane Powers has requested that Club members visit or write her mom, Gloria Manera (picture at right), at her nursing home. She is at St. Ann’s nursing home room 248, located at 9400 Saint Ann Dr., Oklahoma City, OK 73162 (NW corner of Rockwell and Britton Road), phone: (405) 728-7888. It would be doing a great service if you would write or visit her. Hopefully you will be a part of lifting her spirit and show how important her membership in the ICO family is. Thank you for caring.
ICO Membership Dues: It is that time again. If you have not yet paid your membership dues for 2010, you may do so at the January meeting. See our Treasurer Lee Wheeler and he will be glad to take your money. Membership dues are: $20.00 for single and $30.00 for family with children under 18 years old. Remember: Your paid dues helps defray Club costs. You get discounted rates for Club activities and you get to vote on club issues.
Festival Committee: If you would like to volunteer to help with the 2010 Italian Festival, let Margaret know. She will be taking names to form the Festival Committee. Please volunteer. We are in this together. It is our festival.
A Word about Meeting Attendance: In an effort to increase meeting attendance, we would like for you to encourage friends and current members who have not been attending to attend our meetings. One suggestion that keeps coming up is to vary our meeting location…this is a good suggestion and your Board will be researching it. As always, if you have any ideas on how we can increase meeting attendance, or if you have any concerns about attending our meetings, Steve would like to hear from you. YOUR INPUT IS IMPORTANT!
Entertainment News: We received a request to have an ICO wine tour. If you are interested, please let Dino know. We would like to solicit other ideas from our members for after meeting entertainment skits, entertainers, classes, games etc. If you have an idea, please let Dino know. Scholarship News: Scholarship applications for the 2010 award are due by February 10th 2010. Scholarships will be granted to the applicants who demonstrate the best combination of scholastic achievement, service (school, community and extra curricular), essay, good moral character, and motivation. Volunteer Requests: Reminder: we are still looking for volunteers to be ICO representatives on the International Business Council (IBC) which meets on the first Thursday of each month at OCU. IBC promotes international understanding through the exchange of people, ideas, and culture with an ultimate Vision of World Peace.
We are also looking for volunteers for Friendship Force International; a worldwide network of local hosts who open their homes to visitors from other countries and cultures. FFI feels that true understanding can develop through the sharing of meals, conversation and the routines of daily life. If you are interested or would like more details, please let Steve know.
Future Meetings: Meeting Dates (second Saturday of every month): Meeting time is always 12:00 noon unless otherwise specified in the Newsletter. Our next meeting dates are as follows: September 12th, October 10th, November 14th and December 18th.The June 13th meeting was our last meeting until September. The months of July and August are vacation months and the ICO club will not meet during those two months and you will not receive the Newsletter.
Patronize our Sponsors: Please help your club by patronizing those businesses that advertise in our Newsletter. Let them know that you saw their ad in the ICO newsletter and on the Web site. Ask other businesses if they would like to advertise in our newsletter and web site. Our Web site has received more than 4,400 inquiries. The cost is $60 per year. Please remember that the proceeds go toward Club operating expenses. ICO Movie Library: We now have over 50 movies that you can borrow for FREE from the Club’s movie library—we only ask that you sign them out and return them during the next meeting. A big thank you goes to Joe LaRocca for making these movies available to us. Thanks Joe!
50/50 Raffle: The raffle allows a 50/50 split (50% the winner) of the money collected from the tickets that the club sells at each meeting and 50% goes to support our Scholarship Fund. Buy a ticket. Help your club.
A BIG ICO WELCOME to our new members and Guests: A big welcome to our newest member Stefano Tarantini. Happy Birthday/Anniversary: The ICO club wishes happy Birthday/ Anniversary to all those members who had/have Birthdays/Anniversary during the month of December 2009.
Italian Novelty Items and Cookbooks: We have a number of items left over from the Festival for members to buy. Please remember that the proceeds go toward Club operating expenses. Thank you.
