I've posted a review sheet which a quick summary of each of the chapters. This outline gives a quick overview of the major topics in each chapter and is essentially a condensed version of the notes and the end-of-chapter summary. If I was studying for the exam, the review sheet would be useful as a way to "check off" the different areas of the chapters as I became fluent in that material. If you get to a point on the outline that you are less comfortable with, perhaps we can sit down to clarify any confusion. Finally, the outline contains a list of definitions that you should be familiar with. Please provide feedback on this review sheet and let me know if you'd like me to add any additional items. |

Homework #3 asks you to do a little research on the current health care debate. There are many players in the debate who have an interest in health care reform: patients (inlcuding those who are currently insured and those currently uninsured), doctors, employers, taxpayers, and health insurers. Current reform proposals do NOT include any discussion of a single government payer for health care. There are some countries that do have government paid health care.
For HW #3, discuss 3-4 advantages/disadvantages for any of these players if the US were to implement universal health care. In other words, what are some benefits and costs to government paid health care?
There is a lot information online that you quickly find with a search. It is due on Monday, November 2nd.

I don't know if everyone has seen these, but the textbook has a website that includes "Student resources", including online quizzes. You might use this as an additional resource as you prepare for exams. |

In class yesterday, someone asked what the definition of a highly compensated employee (HCE) is. I didn't have the exact answer, but upon further research, I found that an employee is considered an HCE if any one of the following applies: - Owner of at least 5% of the business
- Earns more than $110,000 in 2009
- Alternatively, the company can define HCEs as the top 20% of the company's compensated employees
