1. Presented a scientific paper entitled,"Need for continuing education in Hospital and Clinical Pharmacy", at 49th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress held at Thiruvananthapuram from 18th Dec.to 21st Dec.,1997.

2. Presented following four research papers at 50th IPC and 17th Asian Congress of Pharmaceutical Sciences held at Mumbai from 10th to 13th December, 1998. These research papers have been published in the books of Abstracts.

i) Cardiovascular effects of aqueous extract of fruits of Emblica officinalis.

ii) Effects of fish oil on the penetration and activity of Nimesulide from gel

formulation.

iii) Need to modify operating procedures of hospital pharmacies.

iv) Prescription analysis of antibiotics and evaluation of prescribing pattern of

doctors and dispensing pattern of pharmacists for rational drug therapy.

3. Presented a scientific paper entitled,"Comparative anti-inflammatory activity and ulcer-inducing property of four commonly used NSAIDs" at Southern Regional Conference of Pharmacologists 99, held at Perundurai from 18th June to 20th June,1999.Paper published in the book of Abstracts.

4. Presented a scientific paper entitled,"In-vivo anti-clastogenic activity of essential oil of Cymbopogon citratus (Lemongrass) in mice"at 51st Indian Pharmaceutical Conference held at Indore in December, 1999. Paper published in the book of Abstracts.

5. Paper entitled,"In-vivo anti-clastogenic effects of extracts of Ocimum sanctum and Rosmarinus officinalis in mice" has been published in the book of Abstracts of the 52nd Indian Pharmaceutical Conference, held at Hyderabad in December, 2000.

6. Presented a paper in the National Seminar on "Recent Developments in Plant Science Research" held at the University of Kashmir during November, 2003.

7. Presented a paper in the National Seminar on "Inter-disciplinary approaches in Zoological Sciences", held at the University of Kashmir during November, 2003.

8. Presented a paper entitled, "National Drug Policy and Quality Control of Drugs", in the Annual Conference and International Workshop of the Pharmacovigilance Society of India, held at Agra b/n 11-13 Dec., 2003.

12. Attended day-long seminar on “Tobacco free Kashmir: bringing the dream to reality”, held on November 6th, 2007, organized by Hakim Sanaullah Specialist Hospital and Cancer Center, Sopore in collaboration with Dept. of Pharm. Sciences, University of Kashmir at the University of Kashmir.

13. Presented a paper entitled, “Guiding Principles for the formulation of a Drug Policy in the State of Jammu and Kashmir” in the 40th Annual Conference of the Indian Pharmacological Society held at NIPER, Mohali, Chandigarh b/n 1st to 3rd November, 2007.

14. Presented a paper entitled, “Constitution of National Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India – Views and Suggestions” at the day-long workshop-cum-consultative meet with state scientists on the draft establishment plan for the NBRA, organized by the J&K Science and Technology Department at the University of Kashmir on August 4th, 2008.

15. Delivered three guest lectures on Cultivation of Medicinal Plants in J&K at ten-day workshop organized by USIC, Univ. of Kashmir in April, 2008.

16. Attended two-day workshop on Patents and Intellectual Property Rights organized by Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Srinagar b/n May 1-2, 2008.

17. Attended day-long expert-level panel discussion on the Changing Dynamics of Higher Education in India, organized by Academic Staff College of the University of Kashmir in collaboration with Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) at SKICC, Srinagar on Nov. 1st, 2008 and acted as Rapporteur for the day.

18. Attended 4th J&K Science Congress held at University of Kashmir b/n Nov. 12 - 14, 2008, functioned as Rapporteur for the session on Pharmaceutical Sciences and presented a paper on "Guiding Principles for the formulation of a Drug Policy in the state of J&K".

19. Made a presentation on "The importance and status of science education in the state of J&K" during a day-long seminar organized by the UGC-Academic Staff College, University of Kashmir on March 25th, 2009.

20. Served as Joint Organizing Secretary for the two day National Seminar on "Recent Advances in Pharmaceutical Education and Research" organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Kashmir on July 15 & 16, 2009.
21. Attended 6th J&K Science Congress held at the University of Kashmir b/n Dec. 2 – 4, 2010 and presented a paper entitled, “Intensive hospital-based adverse drug reaction monitoring in Kashmiri population”.
 
22. Attended two-day workshop for College Principles and senior academicians of the state on "e-governance and curriculum development" organized by the UGC-Academic Staff College of the University of Kashmir b/n March 28-29, 2011, acted as the main Rapporteur and compiled a comprehensive report of its proceedings alongwith recommendations.
 
23. Attended two day training programme on "Right to Information Act" organized by the Academic Staff College and Faculty of Law, University of Kashmir b/n June 27-28th, 2011.
 
24. Attended two-day National Conference on "Recent Trends in Biosciences" organized by the Dept. of Biochemistry and Biotechnology and held at S. P. College, Srinagar between October 3-4, 2011.
 
25. Attended third International Conference for Improving Use of Medicines (ICIUM-2011), organized by INRUD and held at Antalya, Turkey between November 14-18, 2011and presented a paper on "Intensive hospital-based adverse drug reaction monitoring studies on 5482 patients of Kashmiri origin in a tertiary care hospital".
 
26. Attended two-day short term training course on Nanosciences organized by the Academic Staff College, University of Kashmir in collaboration with NIT, Srinagar on December 9-10, 2011.

(1) Following three lectures were delivered during a training course on Cultivation and Marketing of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, organized by the J&K State Medicinal Plants Board at J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Srinagar b/n 5th to 9th July, 2004.

(3) Delivered a lecture on “The importance and status of science education in the state of J&K” during a day-long seminar organized by the Academic Staff College, University of Kashmir on March 25th, 2009.

(4) Delivered a lecture on “Views and suggestions regarding establishment of National Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India” during the consultative meet-cum-workshop of the J&K Science and Technology Department on Draft Establishment Plan for the National Biotechnology Regulatory Authority of India held in the University of Kashmir on August 4th, 2008.

Research Projects Handled/Thesis Written:
 
a) Worked on M.Pharm. research project entitled, “Cytogenetic evaluation of the essential oil of Cymbopogon citratus using mouse bone-marrow test system” and has established its antimutagenic effects using Micronucleus Test and Chromosome Aberration Test. Wrote a thesis on the topic and submitted to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Karnataka, Bangalore.
 
b) Completed work on Ph.D. research project entitled, “Prospective Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Studies in Kashmiri Patients” in collaboration with SK Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar, J&K. Thesis on the topic submitted to the University of Kashmir in 2009.
 
c) Currently supervising M.Pharm. research project entitled, "Design, implementation and evaluation of Pharmaceutical Care Service Model in patients of respiratory medicine at a tertiary care hospital".
 
c) Financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 1.85 lacs received from UGC for the research project entitled, “Intensive hospital based adverse drug reaction monitoring studies in Kashmiri Population”.
 
Developmental Work Done/Contribution to the Body Corporate of the University of Kashmir:
           
 a)      Drafted guidelines for the formulation of a New Drug Policy for the state of J&K 
        and forwarded same through Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir to the Hon’ble Chief
        Minister and the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, J&K Govt. vide no. F1(VC-KU)
        05 dated 24.01.2005 for implementation by the state govt.
 
b)       Drafted proposal for the creation of 90 posts of Drug Inspectors at Block Level in the
        state of J&K on behalf of J&K Pharmacy Graduates Association which was endorsed by
        the Controller, Drug and Food Control Organization, J&K and subsequently accepted by
        the Ministry of Health and F.W., J&K Govt. A formal order towards creation of 72 posts
        of Drug Inspectors and 7 posts of ADCs was issued by the J&K Govt. in August, 2007
        and the appointments were made by the J&K SSRB in 2009.
 
c)       In compliance with the directions issued by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, K.U., played lead
        role in association with HOD, Pharm. Sciences in securing J&K Pharmacy Council
        approval to the B.Pharm. degree course offered by the Dept. of Pharm. Sciences, K.U.
 
d)       Played lead role  in association with HOD, Pharm. Sciences, in devising 10+2+4
        scheme for B.Pharm. degree course that has commenced from the academic session
        2006.
 
e)       Played key role  in association with HOD, Pharm. Sciences, in devising syllabus,
        scheme and structure for starting M.Pharm. degree course proposed in five major
        disciplines of Pharmaceutical Sciences, introduced from the academic session 2009.
         
f)         Played key role in drafting separate statutes for undergoing doctorate in various
        specializations of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the University of Kashmir.
 
g)       Played key role in preparing documents required for securing AICTE approval to the
        B.Pharm. course offered by the Dept. of Pharm. Sciences, K.U.
 
h)       Played key role in preparing documents required for the grant of approval to the
        B.Pharm.degree course by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 14 of the
        Pharmacy Act of 1948.
 
i)        Framed detailed proposal for the constitution of a separate Faculty of Pharmaceutical
        Sciences in the University of Kashmir.
 
j)        Framed proposal for the expansion of teaching and non-teaching staff of the
        Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in accordance with AICTE guidelines.
 
k)      In association with HOD, Pharm. Sciences, KU, drafted proposal for the financial
        assistance under UGC innovative programmes scheme for starting Masters degree
        programme in five different specializations of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Proposal was
        subsequently accepted by UGC and grants to the tune of Rs. 80 lakh were awarded to
        the department.
 
l)        Revised Draft Biotechnology Policy for the state of J&K sent by the Dept of Science
        and Technology, J&K Govt.
 
m)     Revised Draft Drug Policy of J&K govt. and presented pointwise suggestions on
           the govt. draft besides including suggestions on gross deficiencies in the govt.draft.
 
n)      Presented a detailed proposal on "Strategic Reforms Required In Our
          University  Education System – Need For A Paradigm Shift", to Vice-
          Chancellor, Registrar, Dean Academics, University of Kashmir to bring about some 
          positive change in terms of innovation, diversification, augmentation, integration,
          extension, accreditation, modernization, harmonization, orientation and 
          consolidation of our education system.
 
o)     Served as Editor for the Progress Report and Newsletter of the UGC-
         Academic Staff College, University of Kashmir. Also prepared and delivered a
         powerpoint presentation before the NAAC PEER TEAM for the assessment
         and extension of approval of the ASC on February 15th, 2012.
