ISE is a non-profit educational organization founded more than 30 years ago, dedicated to creating authentic beyond-the-classroom experiences for American foreign language students. ISE believes that a home-stay abroad, combined with the experience of local daily life, is the best way for American students to practice their foreign language learned at home and to understand that country’s culture.

One of the fastest developed countries in the world, China has become more and more the world focus, especially with the successful holding of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, which thus attracts more and more youths around the world. They hope to get a thorough understanding of ancient Chinese history and culture through learning Chinese and making new friends in China.

In 2008, under the shared efforts of ACME（Association of Chinese Management Exchange）and Centre for American Studies of Fudan University, ISE landed in China. The ISE (China) mission is to educate more American young people toward an understanding of and respect for Chinese culture. This is achieved through immersion programs that stress learning of Chinese language and culture as well. And we also hope that more Chinese young people could open their hearts and minds toward becoming better informed and connected with other countries’ languages and cultures through making friends with foreign students.
