Isaac Trapkus - Double Bass

![]() Isaac Trapkus received his Master of Music degree in double bass performance at The Juilliard School as a student of Eugene Levinson, Principal Double Bass of the New York Philharmonic. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan under bass soloist Diana Gannett. In 2007, Mr. Trapkus was the winner of the Double Bass Concerto Competition at The Juilliard School and performed the Vanhal Double Bass Concerto in New York City's Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
In 2005, Mr. Trapkus won the University of Michigan's Concerto Competition and performed Eduard Tubin's Double Bass Concerto, becoming the first bassist in 30 years to win the competition.
During his study at Michigan, Mr. Trapkus won auditions with the Ann Arbor Symphony and Flint Symphony while studying orchestral repertoire with Stephen Molina of the Detroit Symphony.
From 2008-2010, Mr. Trapkus mentored as a lower strings coach at the Community Music Center of Boston, also performing with the Boston Philharmonic and Discovery Ensemble.
Mr. Trapkus has performed at Carnegie Hall as principal bassist with the New York String Orchestra and with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra in Germany. He is currently a freelance bassist living in Princeton, New Jersey, and an administrator with the IMSLP Public Domain Sheet Music Project.
