The Iraqi Visual FoxPro Programmers Group is the first Iraqi group concerned with foxpro. It aims at creating a friendly environment for foxpro programmers to meet and help each other and share knowledge. This group is intended to raise the level of knowledge of foxers to cope with the new changes in the world of foxpro like VFP .NET and the open source projects at Codeplex VFPX and many others and to let the Iraqi foxers be part of the world wide efforts to keep the fox one of the best powerful tools to create database management systems.
Iraqi foxers and any foxer in the world are invited to share us their knowledge and suggestions to jump start the activities of the group. Got a free Google Account and join the group. This makes things easier, to be updated about the activities of the group, documents sharing, calender sharing and scheduling activities in the best way for all.
We are aiming at arranging meetings and conferences to be (state-of-the-art) foxpro programmers coping with the latest improvements in visual foxpro development environment.
Why we form this group? 1) To create a friendly environment for Iraqi foxers to communicate and share knowledge. 2) To augment the role of Iraqi foxers in the technological development in Iraq concerning private and governmental business sectors by building (state-of-the-art) database applications. 3) We believe that this is a positive step toward creating well organized programmers groups that can in the future participate in sketching the solutions to some critical issues like software developers copyrights and preventing software piracy that is a common problem in our community. 4) To be updated with the new activities and developments in visual foxpro like the Codeplex VFPX projects and VFP.NET 5) To create communication lines with other visual foxpro peers allover the world that greatly help exchanging ideas and getting beneficial knowledge from the professional experts available outside Iraq. 6) To encourage others to get engaged in visual foxpro programming. 7) To boost the passion of foxpro programmers to continue using and getting updated on VFP and especially after the sad announcement of Microsoft that they will stop upgrading foxpro. 8) … and many other reasons. Membership: Membership is free at the time being. The group has an existence in the internet with no (hardware) building at the time being. In the Discussion Panel the members should feel free to post their ideas about the group and how we can organize our meetings.At the time being the discussion panel is not used to post technical problems. In the near future there will be a place in the net or at least in the group account to discuss such problems. There are good sites to discuss and solve technical programming problems like (foxite.com), (UniversalThread.com) and others. It is preferable that every member got a Google Account. This account is used to register as a member in the Group discussion panel. Send chat invitation to the group e-mail so that we can do group chatting by google talk, share and commenting on documents and presentations through Google Documents, arrange the best time for our meetings by sharing Calendars, get e-mail alerts on activities of the group, commenting on the blog posts, and many other benefits.
