Iberian Peninsula SCD Group

All over Spain and Portugal you will find Scottish Country Dance (SCD) groups, many set up by past teachers and enthusiasts who retired or moved to these countries to start a new life for themselves. Growing contacts between these groups culminated in the holding of an Iberian Scottish Country Dance Weekend, which has now become a regular annual event and arguably the Scottish Country Dancing highlight of the year in the Peninsula. The prime mover in setting up the Iberian Weekends was Jeronimo Maeso, who sadly passed away in May 2018 after a long illness, but not without leaving us this wonderful legacy. The purpose of this site is to provide information on the various Iberian SCD groups and their activities, as well as our Iberian Peninsula Annual Dance Weekend.  For videos and photos of past weekends, please go to the Previous Events page . There are currently Groups in the Algarve, Barcelona, Javea, Jerez, Lisbon (Carcavelos), Lisbon (Lapa), Lisbon (Telheiras), Madrid, Malaga, Nerja and Torrevieja.
