A metronome is any device that produces a regulated audible and/or visual pulse, usually used to establish a steady beat, or tempo,measured in beats-per-minute (BPM) for the performance of musical compositions.

This application transforms your iPhone into an easy-to-use metronome that marks tempo with the aid of audible beacons. The screen displays the chosen tempo in beats-per-minute, as well as as its corresponding description (e.g. Andante).

The correspondence between tempo descriptors and BPM is as follows:

• Prestissimo: 200-208
  
• Presto: 168-200
  
• Allegro: 120-168
  
• Moderato: 108-120
  
• Andante: 76-108
  
• Adagio: 66-76
  
• Larghet.: 60-66
  
• Largo: 40-60
